Wi-Fi Service Information

eduroam

Current Status: Fully operational

eduroam (education roaming) is a secure, international wireless (Wi-Fi) service available to all staff and students at Taunton School.

Important information before you get started:

  • All eduroam usernames are your full Taunton School email address.
    For example: john.smith@tauntonschool.co.uk, joe.bloggs@tsmail.co.uk or mary.smith@guardiansuk.com
If you only enter the username, it won’t work.
  • You don’t need to set this up on any school managed laptop; it is automatically set up for you.

What you need to do

  1. Ensure you’re connected to a wired, Wi-Fi or mobile data (4G/5G etc) network. If you’re on campus and don’t already have a connection, you can use the TS_Onboarding network. (Not yet live)
  2. Visit https://cat.eduroam.org/?idp=9203&profile=13460 on the device(s) you want to use on eduroam.
  3. Download and run the installer for your device
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions (these will vary, depending on your device type)

Android and iPhone/iPad users can also download the geteduroam app from Google Play or the App Store.

Connecting Manually

If you don’t want to use the CAT facility or geteduroam app, you can configure your mobile device using the following guides:

Benefits

As well as being available at institutions around the world, eduroam can also be used at Taunton School wherever the ‘eduroam’ wireless network is available.

eduroam is particularly convenient for smart phone and tablet users. Using eduroam, you don’t need to type in your username and password every time you access the network. You only need to set up your device once, and then you can log in automatically wherever the eduroam network is available.
